ADEPA (ah-di-pah)
• Origin: Ghanaian Akan Word and Name
• Meaning: A Good thing
Adepa Pharmaceuticals Limited is a wholly Ghanaian owned company registered in Ghana in 1997, and was founded with a vision to supply and manufacture premium quality branded pharmaceutical products to Ghana and its neighbouring West African countries.
The company is headquartered in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. Since its founding, the company has developed a nationwide distribution network to support its wholesale and retailing activity and has demonstrated a steady annual increase in its revenue over the years. Even the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic did not detract the company from this achievement.
The company expects to increase its turnover through further market penetration of its traditional products and expanding its range of products.
Adepa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has established itself as a leading brand in the supply and distribution of OTC (over-the counter) such as antiseptics, cough and cold remedies, dermatological and haematinic treatments, anti-malarials, mosquito repellents and multivitamin products.
The company has acquired a million dollar (US$), 4-acre site in Tema’s free-zone enclave industrial area for the development of a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. The factory site is positioned to benefit from its proximity to the port of Tema for the supply of pharmaceuticals to the land- locked Sahelian countries in sub-Sahara Africa and the rest of the region.
A consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic was the company’s introduction of Gel-based sanitizer, WHO formula sanitizer, Chlorine-based disinfectant and 70% rubbing alcohol.

Our Story
Adepa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was born from a deeply personal journey rooted in love, loss, and a commitment to making a difference in the world of healthcare. The name "Adepa" holds special significance for us—it is the Akan name of our founder's mother, meaning "something good." This name also resonates with the Akan proverb, "Adepa na etow ne ho," which translates to "A good thing sells itself." These words encapsulate the essence of our mission: to offer only the best, trusted products to our customers.
Our founder's path to establishing Adepa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. began when she was just 13 years old. A heartbreaking event at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where her newborn cousin passed away due to a malfunctioning plaster that failed to secure the baby’s breathing tube, left her feeling helpless. This tragedy ignited a passion within her to ensure that no one else would suffer from the lack of quality medical supplies. Determined to make a change, she pursued her education in Pharmacy in the USA, focusing on the supply of high-quality pharmaceutical products.
Years later, another personal experience further shaped her vision. Her beloved grandmother, who had been bedridden with a stroke, was nearing the end of her life. The elderly woman's only request was for Depend diapers, which provided her with comfort and protected her from bedsores. This simple, yet profound, need underscored the importance of reliable healthcare products. It was the catalyst that drove our founder to return to Ghana and establish her own pharmaceutical company.
In Ghana, the consequences of failed medical devices or substandard medicines can be devastating, leading to unnecessary suffering and loss of life. Adepa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was founded to address this critical need, bridging the gap by providing premium-quality, affordable health products that help our customers feel better and live longer. Our story is one of resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.
